How we work it out

  • Gallons per acre: fuel used ÷ area worked. In metric: gal/ac × 9.354 = L/ha (1 US gal = 3.785 L, 1 acre = 0.405 ha).
  • Per hour and work rate: fuel used ÷ engine hours, and area ÷ engine hours.
  • Next job: gal/ac × acres to do; tank fills = fuel ÷ tank size; cost = gallons × your price.

Based only on the job you enter - soil, speed, depth, slope, the implement and the operator all change fuel use, so a different kind of job needs its own figures. We don’t show fuel prices; use what you pay. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere. For other units use the farm unit converter.
